Woodland
Concept work and backgrounds
‚Woodland‘ is a 2D animated shortfilm created by Strange Acre Studios which explores LGBTQ+ relationships in rural UK. Arborists Alastair and Fergus enter into a romantic entaglement, but their relationship is challenged in the face of small town stigma.
CONCEPT ART

As an arborist the protagonist Alastair has a strong connection to the natural world. When he sees Fergus woodland flora begin to sprout on or around him, giving a visual queue to his desire. Here are some concept pieces I did for these scenes.

BACKGROUND ART
These are some backgrounds I did for the film, emulating the art style developed by my collaborator, Devon. Since the colour script was still undergoing revisions, we created the environments in black and white.
